Updated versions of documents are available
New versions of the EDI Tansactions for the Danish Electricity Market, APERAK, UTILMD, UTILTS, EDIFACT Examples and XML schemas are now available to the right of this page.
Read Nina´s blog
This blog is the result of requests from market players wanting continuous information about the DataHub project. The blog provides informal information about what is happening in the project and whether we reach our objectives.
The idea is that you can access www.energinet.dk/datahub and read updated news about the project whenever you want.
The blog is updated once a week, and when old news items are no longer of current interest, they will be placed in the document 'Nina's blog' to the right of the page.
This first English version summarises the topics dealt with previously in the Danish blog.
Change of website address
When the DataHub is launched, it will have an external website that is independent of Energinet.dk. But already now work is under way to get the page up and running so that it can be used for migrating data, and in future all information about the DataHub will be published on www.energinet.dk/datahub
Please use this address when you want to read news about the project, find the pseudo-regulations or view the technical specifications published by Energinet.dk.
XML schemas
On 22 February 2011, we published the XML schemas, which are a technical supplement to the appendices to pseudo-regulation F.
The schemas are available in a zip file on www.energinet.dk/datahub to the right on the page. The opening of the zip file depends on your individual system.
The XML schemas are text files describing the structure of the messages the DataHub can send and receive.
An email about the XML schemas has been sent to the relevant persons.
EDIFACT examples
On 7 March 2011, we published the descriptions of the EDIFACT messages (the so-called MIGs), which are a technical supplement to the appendices to pseudo-regulation F.
The descriptions are available in a text file on www.energinet.dk/datahub to the right of the page.
The MIGs describe the structure of the messages the DataHub can send and receive in EDIFACT format.
An email about the EDIFACT examples has been sent to the relevant persons.
Clarification phase over
The clarification phase between Energinet.dk and Logica, which has taken up all of January and some of February, is now over. It has been a difficult period with a great many questions and discussions in the various groups. The purpose has of course been to describe all details in relation to functionality and user friendliness - and the work has by no means been in vain!
Reviewing all aspects of such a large project always reveals aspects unforeseen from the start. This has also been the case here, and this is precisely why the clarification phase is so important to the project - and fortunately all parties saw eye to eye on this.
The various expert groups in the project have also been very involved in the clarification phase. Some of the groups started their work back in November 2010 and are rounding it off now.
Revised pseudo-regulations - now in English
The revised pseudo-regulations in English are now ready. As is the case with the Danish versions, a new revised English version is also now available along with a version showing the changes made. The versions showing the changes have TC added to the end of their names.
English pseudo-regulations
As written in the blog last week, we found some discrepancies between the Danish pseudo-regulations and the English translations. The English versions of the pseudo-regulations have now been reviewed and corrected both with respect to the text and the diagrams, and the revised documents have been placed on our English website. As regards the documents with translation faults, it can be seen from the front page of the document whether the document is a version 3, ie the corrected version. Pseudo-regulation H is almost finished and should be placed on our website today. It should be noted that the Danish pseudo-regulations always take precedence of the English translations.
Please contact us if you want a version indicating the differences between versions 2 and 3 of the various documents.
New time schedule for the DataHub project
Energinet.dk has decided to postpone the commercial commissioning of the DataHub to 1 October 2012.
During the clarification with the supplier in the DataHub project, Energinet.dk has identified unforeseen technical problems and dependencies that make it necessary to postpone the commissioning of the player test system, and thus the DataHub, for three months.
The first version of the DataHub was to have been commissioned in April 2012.
Postponing the project for three months would mean, however, that the DataHub should have been commissioned during the summer holidays 2012. To avoid having to start ordinary operation in the middle of the summer holidays and to ensure that the migration work does not reach its peak in the same period, we have decided to commission the DataHub on 1 October 2012, says chief project leader Anders Dalgaard.
In order to make the DataHub operational, the grid companies have to fill it with metered data and master data for all metering points in Denmark, and this is what is called the migration task.
The overall schedule is changed as follows:
1 October 2011: Migration system operational
1 February 2012: Player test system in test operation
1 March 2012: Player test system in normal operation
1 June 2012: DataHub is complete, and 'end-to-end' testing with selected
players starts
1 October 2012: DataHub in normal operation.
'End-to-end' testing
At the request of the players, we have decided to conduct a complete test of the new business processes in the DataHub in combination with the systems used by selected players. This testing will start on 1 June 2012 and aims to minimise the risk of faults when the DataHub is put into normal operation.
The player test system 'only' tests the exchange of messages between the DataHub and the players' systems, and thus does not test the entire system interaction when defined business processes are initiated.
Additional information
During April and May 2011, Energinet.dk will explain the consequences of the new schedule and the content of the activities, and outline the activities of the individual players in the schedule.

The DataHub project
The DataHub is a market register aimed at simplifying the extensive data traffic between the players in the Danish electricity market. The register is part of the continued liberalisation of the Danish electricity market, the purpose being to increase competition in the market to the benefit of the consumers. Today, the players communicate direct with each other, but from 2012 they only have to communicate with the DataHub. This will make it easier for the electricity consumers to change supplier and to access their own consumption data. It was the then Climate and Energy Minister, Connie Hedegaard, who in April 2009 asked Energinet.dk to start setting up a market register for the Danish electricity market in cooperation with the electricity market players.
The new market rules
The commercial commissioning of the DataHub is postponed to 1 October 2012, and this means that the commencement of the new market rules will be postponed as well.
Maintaining the commencement date of the market rules would place a large, additional administrative burden on the players, and it has therefore been decided to postpone the commencement date to 1 October 2012 as well.
Changes to the regulations
We are currently reviewing all the regulations in collaboration with the Danish Energy Regulatory Authority to ensure the final method approval. As a consequence, some text revisions will be made in the regulations which will, however, not have any procedural consequences for the implementation of the DataHub, and new versions of the regulations will therefore not be placed on our website.
Regulation H1 has been changed
In respect of chapters 10.1.1 and 10.2.1; Procedure for establishing a new metering point as connected and newly established, respectively. A working group under the Danish Energy Association, which maintains the Joint Regulation, has requested that we change the text under pt. 3, line 3, which deals with the time when the grid company establishes a metering point in the DataHub. The text is changed from '…after receipt of the registration form.' to '…after having sent the message about the point of connection.' Furthermore, a change has been made to Figure 10 'Establishment of a new metering point as connected': The text in the box between 'Electrical contractor' and 'Grid company' has been changed from 'Agreement on connection' to 'Registration and message about point of connection'. The change is made to help grid companies carry out their processes.
Questions regarding the change can be directed at datahub@energinet.dk.
