The objective of the networks is to promote networking and coordination of research activities – research programmes - in the EU member states. An activity could eg be a joint call.

The participants in the networks are public authorities responsible for programmes funding domestic research activities. The networks are funded by EU's framework programmes for research.

As administrator of the programmes ForskEL and ForskNG, Energinet.dk takes active part in several ERA-NET in the field of energy.
