The gas system
The transmission system consists of the main stations and pipelines which connect the production units with the distribution networks – the grids taking supplies to consumers.

We own the 860 km high-pressure pipeline system in Denmark
As regards its gas activities, Energinet.dk owns the big transmission pipelines running from Nybro in western Jutland to Amager in Eastern Denmark and from the German border to Aalborg.

Energinet.dk also owns the installations which meter and regulate the gas and send it into the gas distribution network. Finally, Energinet.dk owns the Lille Torup gas storage facility near Viborg in Jutland.

Since October 2011 Denmark has imported natural gas from Germany, because the supply from the Danish gas fields in the North Sea has started to declinel. This leads to variations in the gas quality in the future.
