The central Register of Players on the gas market is now launched online as a self-service system with separate access. Shippers, gas suppliers and distribution companies can now access their own data in the Register of Players.

The presentation of an online Register of Players at this moment represents a natural development of the gas market because the number of players has increased in recent years and, taking this step now, Energinet.dk also complies with the change of rules pursuant to the third liberalisation package of the EU, which enables the gas consumers to choose a new gas supplier with a notice as short as 10 days. If a consumer chooses a new gas supplier with a shorter notice than what has been possible up to now, Energinet.dk will need the relevant data on the change of supplier sooner, in order for the wholesalers on market – the shippers – to be able to order the appropriate volumes of gas and reserve the right capacity in the gas system.

Access, rights and obligations
With the online access to the Register of Players, security must have top priority. Therefore, all gas suppliers, shippers and distribution companies must conclude an agreement on access to the Register – an 'Online Access Agreement'.

All market players are obliged to keep their own data in the Register up to date. The improved access and the option to update one's own data increases each individual player's commitment to ensuring that his own data in the Register are correct at all times. In connection with the launching of the online version of the Register of Players, all market players in the Danish gas market will therefore be asked to check that the Register of Players holds, for instance, the right contact persons and also to correct any errors that they encounter in the Register.
