The German system operator Gasunie Deutschland is responsible for matching of nominations towards Ellund (Germany).
If the parties on either side of the matching point nominate the same volumes, the shipper and his counterparty will both be allocated these volumes whereas, in the event of discrepancy, the party responsible for matching will arrange for reduction to the lowest nomination according to a "lesser-of" rule.
Should the nominations for a border point exceed the capacity in either of the natural gas systems, the grid experiencing the restriction is responsible for curtailing the nominations so that they remain within the limits of the physical capacity.
The German border, however, represents an exception as Energinet.dk is responsible for curtailment if northbound capacity is scarce, and Gasunie Deutschland is responsible in terms of southbound flows.
If reduction (curtailment) of nominations becomes necessary, it will be effected pro rata for the points and in the directions that are subject to curtailment by Energinet.dk. However, the shipper may prioritize his nominations within his own capacity.
