Biogas in the natural gas system
Biogas is a renewable energy source from the decomposition (gasification) of biomass as for example waste from agriculture, households and industries.

Energinet.dk works with research and development, which makes it possible in various ways to increase the use of renewable energy in the natural gas system.

We aim at using the natural gas grid for transport of renewable energy in the form of biogas, including the possibility of trade in RE certificates supporting biogas in the natural gas grid.

Energinet.dk also funds a project via the research programme ForskNG that assesses the potential for transporting hydrogen together with the natural gas in the gas grid.
