Subsidies for renewable energy

Energinet.dk administers society’s subsidies for production, research and development in renewable energy, which contributes to reducing the emission of CO2 and global warming.

‘Public service obligations’ (PSO) is an item on the consumers’ electricity bills. PSO is the tariff Energinet.dk charges on behalf of society to finance subsidies for renewable energy production and development.

The PSO funds that Energinet.dk is responsible for on behalf of society are used for a number of purposes to the benefit of society, eg:

Subsidies for environmentally-friendly electricity production
Connection of environmentally-friendly energy production to the electricity grid
Security of supply
Environmental investigations in relation to offshore wind turbines
Research and development in environmentally-friendly electricity production.

Energinet.dk administers a number of research programmes – ForskEL, ForskVE, ForskNG, ForskIN.
