ENTSO-G

Energinet.dk is an active player in ENTSO-G (European Network of Transmission System Operators - Gas), which is a binding European TSO collaboration, and the GIE (Gas Infrastructure Europe), which is a body of collaboration for gas companies. Both organisations are headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

ENTSO-G was established as a part of the third liberalisation package (EU Directive 715/2009) and is binding in relation to the GIE collaboration.

Having been fully operational since 1 December 2009, ENTSO-G's main task is to provide ten-year investment plans for the European gas infrastructure (Ten-Year National Development Plan - TYNDP) and grid codes for gas transport (Network Codes) in Europe in close collaboration with all stakeholders and market players and, in particular, the regulators (European Regulators' Group for Electricity and Gas - ERGEG). The grid codes are prepared on the basis of overall guidelines (Framework Guidelines) issued by ERGEG, dealing with capacity products, congestion management, balancing, transparency, data communication, etc. Torben Brabo, Vice President, Gas Market, is Energinet.dk's representative on ENTSO-G's board, and employees from the whole Gas Division participate actively in the working groups within capacity allocation (NWC), investing (TYNDP), and interoperability, for example.

Energinet.dk is still a member of the GIE, which is the umbrella organisation for three subdivisions: Gas Transmission Europe (GTE), Gas Storage Europe (GSE) and Gas LNG Europe (GLE). A number of important GTE tasks have been transferred to ENTSO-G, but the GSE and the GLE are still making decisions on issues relating to gas storage activities and LNG. Peter Hodal, Senior Vice President, Gas Division, is Energinet.dk's representative on the GSE's board.
