The GIE, Gas Infrastructure Europe, is an association of the European operators of gas infrastructures. The GIE has three subdivisions: GTE - Gas Transmission Europe representing the transmission system operators, GSE - Gas Storage Europe representing the storage system operators, and GLE - Gas LNG Europe representing the LNG terminal operators. At present, Energinet.dk is a member of the GTE.
The GTE and the GIE work to put forward the joint views of the infrastructure companies particularly towards the Commission and the regulators (in ERGEG and ACER) in relation to creating a harmonised internal market for gas.
Energinet.dk participates in several working groups with the GTE where issues are treated in detail. Approximately every three months, general issues are discussed in the GTE Plenary.
The GIE has a common secretariat in Brussels with a Supervisory Board and a President. Jean-Claude Depail is the current President.
Torben Brabo, Vice President, Gas Market, is Energinet.dk’s representative in the GIE/GTE Steering Committee (Plenary). Peter Hodal, Senior Vice President, Gas Market, was appointed to the GSE Executive Committee as of June 2010.
