The control centre at Energinet.dk, the Danish Transmission System Operater.
The control centre is staffed 24 hours a day all year round. The operation and balance supervisors are responsible for maintaining a constant frequency and voltage in the Danish part of the European power system. The slightest imbalance requires action. A key task of the control centre is to find out whether the wind is actually blowing at the exact speed predicted, because at wind speeds between 5 and 15 meters per second, a single, unpredicted m/s increase or decrease will cause the wind turbines to feed a significant amount of MW more or less into the power system. By combining online readings from the wind farms with statistical calculations, forecasts can often be adjusted to make deviations manageable. The control centre is equipped with advanced IT systems and 34 screens as well as one big screen measuring 9 x 2 meters.
