In Denmark, civil emergency preparedness is organised in relation to the sectors. As the transmission system operator, Energinet.dk is therefore responsible for emergency preparedness in the Danish electricity and gas sectors and for coordinating the emergency preparedness of the sectors both before, during and after a crisis.

Moreover, Energinet.dk ensures that the companies in the two sectors prepare and observe emergency preparedness and security plans for the installations which they own.

Emergency preparedness means that the energy system is monitored at all times and that plans are in place which stipulate how to reestablish supplies in the event of disruptions.
