About the energy market

One of Energinet.dk's important tasks is to support the energy market in general. That is why Energinet.dk is in charge of developing transportation methods for both electricity and natural gas via the main transmission systems.

Open, competitive energy markets are prerequisite to sustainable, competitive and reliable energy supply, so Energinet.dk’s task is also that of monitoring and supporting the market functions on the individual energy markets.

The Danish electricity and gas markets are free markets on which all electricity and natural gas consumers are entitled to buy electricity and natural gas from a supplier of their choice.
