The three Kriegers Flak project partners Energinet.dk, 50Hertz Transmission and Svenska Kraftnät are about to complete their feasibility study of the combined offshore grid project. The feasibility study is expected to be published in February 2010.
Internal assessments of Svenska Kraftnät show that they do not expect offshore wind farms to be constructed at the Swedish part of Kriegers Flak in the foreseeable future. They have therefore chosen to withdraw from the Kriegers Flak project for now.
Danish Energinet.dk and German 50Hertz continue their activities in the project, which is supported by the European Commission in the frame of the EU Recovery Plan. The Kriegers Flak project can receive financial support up to 150 million Euros from the European Commission for a combined offshore grid connection. Within a short time, Energinet.dk and 50Hertz will make a decision on how to pursue the combined grid solution. The technical solution will allow future participation of Svenska Kraftnät should offshore wind power projects on the Swedish part of Kriegers Flak be constructed.
Kriegers Flak in the Baltic Sea is the first project combining offshore grid connection of wind power plants with cross-border transmission capacity.
